 The
ceremony of closing winter family retreat was held in "Kargaly"
rest home yesterday. The main topic the families had discussed during
the meeting was "Jewish Year. Jewish Holidays".
 The
family retreat participants had rest and learnt for 5 days. They read
extracts from the Torah and Jewish literature. It was such a pleasure
to walk along winter alleys, build snow castles, and toboggan.
In spite of many activities the families also found time to get
prepared to the final concert. They had rather a difficult task -
to give their community a FESTIVAL. After discussion the participants
decided to make the scenario using the received knowledge. The families
divided into five teams and began rehearsing. Finally they presented the
Story of Holidays: Rosh Hashanah, Sukkot, Hanukah, Purim, Pesach.
  The
first to appear on the stage were heroes of the story "Jossy and
an Old Woman on New Year". After the festival of apples and honey,
the families told about Sukkot. Nice girls-candles demonstrated
the order of lighting Hanukah candles. At the end of their performance
all five teams sang the family club hymn.
Family retreat has become a good tradition for the Jews of Kazakhstan.
It unites different generations, cities, and the entire nation. The families
are looking forward to new meetings, and we are glad to know that the
community is getting stronger.
