One of the meetings of "Literary hall" participants was held at "Polina" Hesed. The subject of the discussion held by Irena Krichevskaya was "Oeuvre of Eric Sigal". So, let us recall a wonderful writer and his novels.

  Eric Sigal was born in 1937 in a family of a New-York Rabbi. The writer got his education at Harvard, and today he himself teaches antique literature at leading Universities of the USA.

  Sigal started to write his novels in 1970. His first published works captured readers' attention at once. Bestsellers of a famous author are translated into a number of languages of the world.

  The book called "Autodafe" takes a special place in the writer's oeuvre. It told people what a horrible obstacle could be a religion on the way of two lovers - future padre and a daughter of an orthodox rabbi. "Autodafe" it's a saga about deep feelings, about a revolt of children against their fathers, and of course, about the all-conquering power of love.

  As for the novels "The final diagnosis" and "A scenario of happiness", there in a very interesting manner the author tells about difficult, heroic work of doctors, about the forming of personality, about the adherence to ideals and loving person.

  But Eric Sigal loves strong, unordinary people with difficult and bright fate. His characters have different life ways, not alike each other, but all of them have the same aim - to guess the great mysteries of nature.
