Healthy life is one of the priorities of state policy of Kazakhstan. Recently under the support of regional Akim a Health Festival was held in Karaganda. One of the most active festival participants became Jewish community center "Shemesh".

   The first step of festival life for Karaganda Jews was Maccabiada organized in a central city park. Students from Medical Academy also helped in holiday arrangements. A performance of "Ot Azoi" ensemble became a present for both participants and spectators. The group, popular in Karaganda introduced a program comprising of funny songs in Yiddish and Russian.

   Due to active participation in the Health Festival, "Shemesh" JCC was awarded with a diploma signed by Akim of Karaganda region.

Aleksandr Kotlitskiy
