 This
year April is the month of holidays - Pesach, Holocaust Remembrance Day,
Israel Independence Day.
Israel Independence Day is the festival of pride, victory
and national unity. On April 26 members of Karaganda Jewish community
gathered to celebrate the holiday. The meeting took place in the House
of Friendship Blue Hall, which was very symbolic.
The celebration was prepared and conducted by the
"Shatil" youth club. They sang Hebrew songs in memory of the
deceased, and songs about Israel. And of course the audience joined in
singing the Israeli hymn "Hatikva".
The most interesting item of the concert was a brief excursus
into the history of Israel, which covered its economic, cultural, sports,
and social achievements.
