It is the third Warm Home opened in the framework of the
Hesed "Miriam". It is situated in the town of Saran, 20 kilometers
away from Karaganda.
Community members of different ages have met in the Warm
Home headed by Elena Kochetkova. Seven-year-old Olesya Belousova lit up
candles at their first Kabbalat Shabbat.
One should have seen the eyes of the 80-year-old Hesed client
Lubov Velivene, who lives alone and sees nobody but the Hesed nurse. After
being captured by Fascists, imprisoned in Ghetto, and living such a hard
life, it was her cherished dream - to meet her compatriots,
talk about everything, hear them speak Yiddish. There are six more people
except her who also visit the warm Home.
The Hesed "Miriam" director Bella Kamenetskaya,
the head of food program Lubov Bitsadze, and Hesed on Wheels coordinator
Vladimir Volodarsky came to the official opening of the Open Home. The
Hesed representatives expressed their confidence that the warm Home would
unite the Jewish community of Saran.
