THREE YEARS LATER

Kokshetau 09.06.04

Three years ago, when Kokshetau Hesed was starting we were constantly searching for Jewish families in the town and its suburbs. One of my friends mentioned Shnyade family that lived in Schuchinsk town. "Perhaps they're Jews, try to find it out".

We found the family's address and phone number in the inquiry office, and arranged for a meeting. Several days later a cheerful man with grayish hair entered or rather ran in. He introduced himself in a quick stammering voice - Victor Haimovitch Shnyade.

Victor proved to be an energetic person; he was interested in Jewish organizations that worked in Kokshetau. I told him about "Sokhnut", Jewish community center, and of course about the Hesed. I expected that he would ask for something, but he said "how can I help you?" Since that moment we became friends. In two or three months we offered him to become a member of the Hesed Board, and he accepted the offer with delight. Thus our cooperation started.

One can write a lot of things about Victor's enthusiasm, energy, and cheerfulness, but it would require several pages. I can say in brief that he performs several functions at once - he is a member of the Hesed Board, donor, and volunteer. He is always eager to help delivering food packages or medicines, and is constantly engaged in search for Jewish families.

Dear friend, we are glad that you are with us; our community respects and loves you!
