Jewish Book Community Festival-2004 continues its work. Palace of People's Art, the best hall of the city became a house for festival. Stands with Jewish literature on them were put in foyer. A steadfast attention was drawn by personal exhibition of the member of our city community Lidiya Vlasenko - "Subjects of the Jewish life "embroidered in satin-stitch.

   The festival was opened by Vladimir Marufenin, Hesed "Nathan" religious program leader. He told the guests of the holiday about the role of Book in life of Jewish people. Director of the Jewish Republican Library local filial Lidiya Nyashina and library volunteers Valentina Kudryasheva, Valentina Tumentseva and Lubov Artuhova acquainted all the comers with works of wonderful Jewish writers - Issac Bashevis Zinger, Efraim Sevela, Igor Guberman and a famous Kokshetau citizen Leonid Sedelnikov.

   Youth club members recited poems of Samuil Marshak, Boris Lyahovetskiy and Liya Frishman, they also sang songs.

   The particular thing of the festival became a performance of a wonderful ensemble "Shalom" that came to the holiday from Petropavlovsk Hesed. Songs in Russian, Hebrew and Yiddish were accompanied by loud applause.

   At the end of the meeting "Mitsva" Association members gave the guests books of Jewish writer Moris Semashko that had been living in Kazakhstan for a long time.
