 When
the Children's Day Center opened in the Pavlodar JCC, the community hoped,
that it would be the children's second home. Today it begins justifying
their hopes. It is the place where children study the Jewish history and
Tradition, learn to be kind, just, and merciful.
Experienced teachers conduct the lessons. The Hesed "Rachel"
religious programs coordinator Oleg Bykovsky initiates them into the mysteries
of Judaism. Now the children can celebrate Shabbat together, light the
candles, say the blessing over wine and bread. They have done the same
today.
The JCC staff and parents hope that the Shabbat candles will
light the children's way.
