ISRAEL INDEPENDENCE DAY

Two thousand years Jews who lived in exile remembered about their motherland and dreamt of returning to Eretz Israel. Everytime during Pesach Seder people said: "next year in Jerusalem!" That is why the fifth of Iyar - Israel Independence Day is so important for the Jewish nation. In the beginning of the festival Pavlodar community remembered the soldiers who died during the independence war.

After the official ceremony the youth club members recited poems about Israel.

After that a musical "Mishpaha" was performed. It had been prepared for about half a year. All parts were played by the Hesed "R achel" staff.

Sound tracks from Prof. Shafer's archive arrange by a musician Valery Semykin were used in the play. The scenario in verse was written by the JCC director Irina Tveritneva. The musical presented life of a regular Jewish family in Odessa in the period of NEP.

The play was truly impressive and merry. Actors' solo parts and passionate dances by "Mazal" dance group left nobody indifferent.

After the performance finished loud cheers did not cease for a long time.

And also that day the oldest actor Mikhail Milvanov was 75 years old. Mazal Tov!

Pavlodar community is grateful to Alexandr Baron for financial support in preparation of costumes.
