During
the winter holidays the Petropavlovsk JCC focused on the children's programs.
The JCC staff arranged combined lessons in different clubs and children's
retreat in order to provide the children with interesting and necessary
information.
Everything
started with "The Prince of Egypt" cartoon film about Moses's
life. The children shared their impressions and argued. It helped them
also to discover their oratorical abilities.
The
next topic for discussion was bar-mitsva and bat-mitsva
ceremony. The youth club member Elhanan Evdaev, who became the son of
commandment the last year in Israel, told about the ceremony and preparations.
Elhanan eagerly answered the questions of those who were going to participate
in the ceremony.
The study continued with Igor Zhigarlovsky's lecture about
Jewish religious attributes. Some of the children saw the Torah scroll,
talit, tfilin, and mezuzah for the first time.
It is nice that the parents also took part in the winter retreat
activities. Thus, the children's lessons sometimes turned into family
club meetings.
