At
the end of October Bella Kamenetskaya, a director of Hesed "Miriam"
together with Vladimir Volodarskiy, a head of "Hesed on wheels"
program and Anna Kotlyarovskaya, a chief of "Homecare" service
visited cities-satellites of Karaganda: Saran, Shahan, Shahtinsk, Novodolinka
village. Communities met Hesed workers as close and dearest people, told
them about their matters, children, grandchildren, recalling "Jewish
childhood" and youth. Lubov Velivene, despite experienced ghetto,
loss of dear people and bad health - even sang songs in Yiddish and Hebrew
that she remembered since her childhood.
Anna Kotlyarovskaya, "Homecare" program
leader checked the work with regional service workers and made some changes
in provisioning services to some clients. While visiting badly ill clients
Anna additionally recommended its clients not to forget to use "Rehabilitation
equipment" - one of the oldest Hesed program. Thanks to crutches,
walkers, invalid wheel chair, life of major clients became easier and
more comfortable.
Hesed workers were glad to know that their clients, despite
difficulties, didn't loose interest to life and hope for the better. According
to major clients, roots of that life-asserting optimism are connected
with Hesed activity.
