WOMAN'S FATE

Semipalatinsk 09.12.04

"Steep route" is a name of a book written by Evgeniya Ginzburg. That book was discussed at one of the meetings of Semipalatinsk Hesed literary hall.

Having held their breath, the participants of the meeting were attentively listening to an exciting story of Ilya Barohovskiy, a Youth club volunteer, about tragic moments in the life of the Jewish woman, experienced a hell of Stalin's camps.

We can only be astonished at bravity of Evgeniya who could not only stay alive in a terrible Gulag that didn't yield to fascist concentration camps in this respect, but to keep women's attractiveness, charm. Despite so many tragical moments she tried to make her life happy, organizing a coming of her son - a famous writer Vasiliy Aksenov - to her after 15 years of separation.

"Steep route" of Evgeniya Ginzburg made all the comers to recall once more those hard fates of their relatives and dear people. There is no a single family in the former USSR, especially a family with Jewish roots which wasn't touched by repressions of 30-50-ies.
