 A
large scale Dance group Parade was held in Shymkent the other day. Citizens
showed keen interest in the dancing procession.
The variety of styles and trends was surprising. There was
ageless waltz, passionate tango, popular brake, and even freilechs performed
by the Shymkent Jewish Community Center dance group.
Everybody was dancing - children, their parents
and grandparents. They were dancing so passionately, that the audience
could not help joining them.
In the evening Shymkent JCC presented a Jewish Dance Festival.
"Alila Shel Aliya" dance group welcomed guests at the entrance.
Music took the guests to the old Israel. Harmonious combination
of melody and dancing made them forget that it was already 21 century.
The most significant and interesting item was a performance
by "Alila Shel Aliya" dance group which they called "Old
Melodies". A Jewish music ensemble under direction of Alexander Korotkov
played for the guests that evening.
