The
Taraz branch of the Republican Jewish Library keeps telling about the
famous Jews born in January. Today our heroes are Edward Teller and Michael
Romm.
Edward Teller, a physician, a father of hydrogen bomb
was born on January 15, 1908.
He made research in the fields of quantum mechanics, nuclear
physics, and cosmic-ray physics. He took part in nuclear bomb creation.
 Michael
Romm is a famous Soviet film director, author of the best screen versions
in the silent films. The most famous of his films are: "Secret Mission",
"Nine Days of One City", "Ordinary Fascism" etc.
Prof. Romm taught at the university since 1958, and many of
his students became famous directors.
Michael Romm received many prizes and awards. He died on November
1, 1971 in Moscow.
