The last meeting of "Edidot" club was a bit unusual. It was
Friday, and so the topics for discussion were rules and customs of Kabbalat
Shabbat. The club leader Ida Bukina covered three main issues:
- What is Shabbat and why the Jews must observe it?
- What should one do before Shabbat?
- How to celebrate Shabbat?
 Then
the club members lit Shabbat candles and said the blessing over wine and
challah. The ceremony was conducted by Haunya Greenberg. Before the meal
the women sang Shabbat songs "Lecha Dodi" and "Shalom Aleichem".
 The
second half of a meeting was given to birthday celebration. Nice greeting
cards and warm words became the best presents for those born in February.
The next meeting will be devoted to the Jewish literature.
At a poetical soiree the women will share their favorite poems. Welcome
to the women's club!
