Yesterday in the State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet named after Abay was held a holiday concert, devoted to the Independence Day of Israel. Israeli band-master David Zebb and opera singer Merav Barnea celebrated the 57th anniversary of Independence together with Kazakhstani citizens. Representatives of state power, diplomatic corps of Kazakhstan, partners and friends came to congratulate Jewish community of Kazakhstan.
The evening was opened by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Israel to Kazakhstan Michael Lotem. He thanked Kazakhstan, the state, where representatives of different nationalities and confessions live in peace and solidarity, the country, where today Jewish nation can celebrate Israel’s Independence Day in the atmosphere of kindness.
The holiday program was started with the hymn of Israel "Atikva". During the whole evening compositions of world and Israeli classics were sounded from the stage. Everybody especially remembered a duet of Papageno and Papagen ("Magic flute", Mozart) performed by David Zebb and Merav Barnea.
At the end of the holiday there was held a state reception.
