"Boris Eifman was born on July 22, 1946 in Rybtzovsk city of Altay region". These lines we can read in an encyclopedia "Russian ballet". What is hidden behind it? Is it just a list of his plays?
I would like to lift a veil of mystery from it and to tell you about a great ballet- master, an artist of the XXI century. He brought into a stage his own view, his own understanding of works of Dostoevskiy, Breht, Kuprin, Shakespeare and Bulgakov.
Today he is a people’s artist of Russia, a laureate of "Dance soul" award; the president of Poland presented him with a commander’s Honor of the Republic. In the USA people stood up to welcome him after a play "Musaget". This international recognition gave him a right to perform at a stage of Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow.
But his way was a thorny and a hard one - a way of misrecognition, baiting, banning of his plays, he hadn’t even a place to put plays on a stage. Nevertheless, Eifman did his best to achieve his aim: to create plays, his own theater, to make his vision of future ballet come true.
And his time has come. Now he puts one play at a stage after another, the troupe fanatically believe in him and work.
Plays: "Red Zhizel" by Tchaikovskiy, "The Karamazov brothers", "My Jerusalem", "Don Zhuan", "Masaget", "Idiot", "Master and Margarita" and many others.
It is just a short list of ballets. It implies a number of years of hard work and an endless search. The artist is a contemporary, honest and devoted to ballet art person.
