Volonteers of Jewish Republican library held Literary hall in "Rimon" community center. Its participants learnt about the first T.V. channel of Israel, broadcasting in Russian. Though it started to broadcast in 2001, it was very interesting for us to hear about it from our compatriot, recently traveled to Erets Israel.
Jewish Republican library volunteer Svetlana Nezhinskaya described her trip to Israel. She told how it was pleasant for her to hear Russian speech on one of local channels "Israel Plus", winning the recognition of both repatriates from the former USSR and local Israeli people.
"Even if they do not understand a single word, they watch it", smiles Svetlana Nezhinskaya,"just because "Israel Plus" is a real spectacle".
There are a lot of programs on the channel, but Svetlana Nezhinskaya decided to tell us only about four of them. "Opened studio" - is a program highlightening various problems: from policy to show-business. Its leader is David Kon. There one can argue, even vilify, but at the same time learn much interesting things. It broadcasts 5 times a week - for 3 hours, at evening time.
There is an entertainment program "7:40" - songs, dances, anecdotes.
An ex-citizen of Odessa, an artist Leonid Kanevskiy conducts a program "I want to eat everything". In the course of his program he cooks different dishes, sometimes complex ones. While frying-stewing, he considers questions on politics, art etc.
But, I believe, the most interesting program is "Shabbat Shalom". It is a public religious program, which combines a weekly Torah chapter with the events, happened within past 7 days. And this is in an orthodox Israel!
But Literary hall would never be as it is, if the discussion is not devoted to books. This time two books were introduced to the guests. The first is an anthology of Russian-language Jewish poetry "Starry ark". There were read aloud some extracts from this book- so easy to understand and so dear lines of our contemporary poetess Elena Akserold - "Praying for kindness" and other things.
Then a collection of stories "To Israel and back" was represented before the guests. It included impressions of writers of Snt. Petersburg and Moscow, that were on a weekly visit to Israel. Such names as Aizenberg, Aksenov, Ulitskiya, Bitov were among the authors. Each of them told about the things they saw, surprised at and admired in that country.
Literary hall participants were very satisfied with the meeting and at the end held a tea-drinking, actively sharing their impressions with each other.
