Today's day was marked with an opening ceremony of the second session of Social work Department. A Joint project of "Joint" American Distribution Committee, "Mitsva" Association and "Prestige" Academy is called to help workers of Jewish welfare organizations of our republic to reach a new level in their professional work and to give them an opportunity to look at problems and tasks, that community faces, from another side.

  Professor Ron Shor came to Almaty from Jerusalem for participation in a summer session. Together with president of "Mitsva" Association Aleksandr Baron, rector of "Prestige" Academy Grigoriy Umanov and Hesed "Polina" director Nataliya Dorman, Dr. Shor congratulated students - Hesed children's program leaders - on th beginning of their studies.

  Lectures and practical studies will be conducted by both representatives of "Prestige" Academy and "Mitsva" Association workers. Listeners will be offered lectures on the following subjects: "Problems in social work with youth", "Social work legal regulations", "Social policy", "Family study". A successful combination of theoretical studies and practice will help students to get to know a number of problems, connected with their professional work.

  During 12 days students of Social work department will have an opportunity not only to listen to lectures, prepared for them, but to ask teachers questions they like, to visit Almaty Hesed and Jewish community center and to take part in round table discussion, in the course of which will be composed the working program of the department.
