Members
of "Osher" children's art center met Tu Bi-Shevat. Workers and
volunteers of "Rimon" community center did their best to make
children feel the atmosphere of the New Year of Trees.
"Osher" Children themselves also wouldn't like to
stay apart from holiday preparations. It was very pleasant for them to
enter the hall decorated with their drawings and handmade articles.
Having tasted the traditional Tu Bi-Shevat fruits, the children
listened to the history of the holiday.
"Today is a New Year of Trees,
Today is Tu Bi-Shevat holiday.
And everyone would be glad
To taste the fruits"
Torah teacher, Larisa Poltavskaya, told about holiday customs.
"After the capture of Erets Israel by foreigners and
the Jewish nation's exile", Larisa continued her story, "this
holiday wasn't forgotten: people of Israel spread it all over the world,
where they settled down. Till our days, Tu Bi-Shevat symbolizes connection
of Jewish people with their motherland and the very sense of the holiday
is in the love to a native land".
The Torah Teacher also emphasized on the fact that "Al
trees are created for people's use" so we have to take care of them.
At the end of the evening, children planted fig, orange and
lemon seeds into the pots prepared beforehand. It means that soon small
trees will blossom on the windowsills of children's rooms.
