Astana Hesed honored veterans of the Great Patriotic War. Hesed workers and volunteers met veterans in a holiday decorated hall, under the sounds of familiar songs and melodies.
Holiday candles, alighted in the honor of those, who stood for peace and friendship in hard years, opened the meeting. Michail Kreitchman prepared an interesting story - he told about participation of Jews in the Great Patriotic War, about those, who died and who was awarded with medals.
This year the Day of rewarding of veterans by Astana Hesed coincided with the Day of Independence of the Jewish Nation, what is very symbolically.
"Shatil" children’s club came to congratulate veterans. Kids prepared a big concert program. The comers were touched by the reciting of poems and warm congratulatory words. Songs of war time had been sounded in native Hesed for a long time and didn’t let anybody, even children, to be indifferent to it. Children sang those songs together with veterans.
All the comers were presented with letters of gratitude from Almaty, memorial presents, souvenirs and flowers.
Having left Hesed, veterans remembered words of gratitude and mutual love. The day they spent in Hesed, gave them energy and assurance in the fact that they are remembered, loved, awaited and respected.
