Ust-Kamenogorsk 20.06.2005
 The Jewish community of Ust-Kamenogorsk has celebrated Shavuot, one of the most beautiful and old Jewish holidays. It was held in the House of Friendship.
The preparation began as early as May. The children and youth took the most active part in it. The children creative club decided to make decorations, but before that they read a lot of books about the holiday history, customs, and traditions. It is noteworthy, that "new guys" who have been in the JCC for less than a month also took part in the preparations. For example, Eugenia Bytsenko joined them with pleasure and prepared decorations professionally.
Finally the long-awaited day came. The children were nervous, of course, but their parents and friends cheered them up.
Though many of the audience knew the holiday history and traditions, the concert presenters (Kostya Kuklin and Alexandr Nasurov first tried themselves in this role) reminded them again. They explained that the essence of Shavuot is bestowing of the Torah to the Jewish people. To preserve the nation it is not enough to be free and have a land, it is also necessary to have the laws that govern people’s life.
 The JCC vocal bands also prepared new songs. "Feigele" children vocal band sang "Fiftieth Day", "Bikurim", "We Study Broha" and also sang "We’re Building the Synagogue" together with "Esther" band.
In "Baruh Eloheinu" song "Esther" singers told that no freedom can exist without the Torah laws, and in "Gann Hashikmim" they reminded about old Tel Aviv and its gardens.
When the concert was over the guests and performers wished each other happiness and health, and "Zoar" band sang "Shir La Shalom" song.
