Karaganda 16.08.2005
Firstly for the four years of existence, coordinators of program "Jewish tradition" seminar of Hasadim in Kazakhstan took place in Karaganda. Seminar was leaded by Rebe Meir Schlesinger.
This seminar can be regarded as the beginning of the new period in work of "Jewish tradition" program. Above all it concerns the membership: a half of them were there for the first time. They are Nina Mashenko from Uralsk, Anna Popova from Dzeskazgan, Igor Tzatsin from Almaty, Igor Guretski from Petropavlovsk, Alexander Ribin from Kokshetau.
Three Rabbis: Meir Schlesinger (Jerusalem), Rebe Alexander Lakshin - President of "Magen" League (Moscow), and Rebe Meir Scheiner - Rabbi of Karaganda region, read lectures on the seminar. Seminar took place on basis of Jewish Educational Complex "Or - Avner". Participation of 3 rabbis at the same time allowed the seminar to rise on a qualitative new rate.
Actually the educational meeting of religious programs coordinators in Karaganda was devoted to Jewish prayer - consistence and structure of traditional devotions, history of its settlement, rules and laws connected with the prayer. Lectures of Rebe Schlesinger resounded in the translation of Rabbi Meir Scheiner, also actively participated in discussion of all the offered themes.
The participants discussed all the questions, concerned with Kriat Shma - reading of Shma, in details, rules of prayer Amida, and paid much attention to the philosophy of Jewish prayer. Then important practical issues were broached - for example, how is it possible to shorten Shaharit, not loosing the essence, in occasion of luck of time.
The main idea of Alexander Lakshin’s speech was antimissioneers activity of "Magen" League, the president of which he is being, and also the interreligious relationship. Participants knew out much new information about Jewish and Christian approaches to such a theological issues as, for example question about Moshiach, about specialties of TANAH interpretation. Everything become known in comparison - that’s why comparing two approaches, students could understand better the essence proper of Jewish Tradition.
Within the bounds of seminar Rabbi Lakshin met with the members of Jewish Community in Karaganda. At the instance of representative of the local Hesed the guest told to participants about the specialties of missioner’s activity in FSU and directions of counteraction to given event.
Thanks to hospitality of Hesed "Miriam" and JCC "Shemesh", round up excursion along Karaganda took place at the last day of seminar. And so as majority of participants of the educational meeting got to this town firstly, the story about sightseeing of Karaganda, and places directly connected with Jewish history became for guests one more bright remembrance.
Is it possible to express the essence of known about the Jewish prayer for 3 days of seminar?
May be Rabbi Schlesinger’s words will suit for this most of all: "When adore you come into position when you can perceive G-d’s mercy".
