Êàraganda Jewish community celebrated Purim 5765. The evening was held in the House of Friendship. The event, in which participated about 300 people, was held under the support of "Shemesh" Jewish community center.
At the beginning of the evening, the leader of the holiday- "Shemesh" JCC club program coordinator Irina Revenko - gave a word to the "Jewish Tradition" program leader Aleksandr Abramovitch. His speech was devoted to the main ideas of Purim holiday.
The guests were congratulated by Hesed "Miriam" director Bella Kamenetskaya, "Sokhnut" Agency representative Alla Sevastyanenko and other honored guests. Having put on fancy dresses, spectators with great impatience did wait for a holiday performance - and they got it! The holiday concert began from songs performed by Ivan Nebesniy.
There were dances as well. Our friends from a choreographical ensemble "Fairy land" together with "Ot Azoi!" group gladdened guests with a freilehs. Spectator got a real pleasure from watching Kazakh, Slavonic dances, dance of "Eastern Beauties" and, of course, "Hava Nagila".
Then there was time to observe the main commandment of the holiday - to read "Megilat Esther" ("Esther scroll", describing the origin of Purim). Rabbi Meir Sheiner went up to the stage. He has recently come from Israel, where his little daughter Hannotchka was born. Everybody prepared rattles - and it is begun…
The holiday was ended in merry games and dances, free discussion among Jews of all ages and ranks. Hag Sameah!
