WAR HAS WOMEN'S FACE AS WELL

Kostanay 19.04.2005

"War has women's face as well" - this subject united 3 programs - Women's club, literary and musical halls of Kostanay Hesed. There was said about the role of Women - poetess Vera Inberg and Olga Bergoltz, whom, we can call heroes of the Great Patriotic War judging by their contribution to the Victory. Both women experienced Leningrad siege, and not just experiences - they worked. They worked where country was in need of them: they built fortifications, worked in hospitals, in an editorial office of local radio. And they didn't stop writing! Their poems inspired soldiers, taught who suffered the siege to be patient.
Alla Gafurova, a leader of Jewish Republican library filial in Kostanay, delivered a speech about poets. There also sounded poems. Those, who visited Piskarev graveyard, will never forget lines, carved at the entrance: "Here lie …", their author is known to everybody - it is Olga Bergoltz.

At the end of the meeting, those, who came to Hesed hall sang songs of war time. The pianist Elena Fisenko was an accompanist. That meeting will stay in memory for a very long time.
