 Hanukkah - holiday of light. Eight days we light candles, and they brighten the world. With each lit in our house candle, we become spiritually rich man, hearts are filled with pleasure.
On eve of Hanukkah in Hesed "Rachel" some celebratory measures passed at once. So, the Family club demonstrated physical force and force of mind in Maccabiada. 5 families participated in competition: The Zherebetzkys, Illarionovs, Navoevs, Michailenkos, Daerbaevs. The team of family Daerbaevs has won. Then, at the family table they drunk tea with doughnuts and potato fritters.
Each Jewish holiday has the special cookery. Therefore for the women from Female club began tradition on eve of a holiday to share culinary recipes. This time our lovely ladies prepared dishes, characteristic for Hanukkah, and mother of club Hanna Lobchenko told a history of a holiday.
On tradition in Pavlodar the celebrating Hanukkah began on one of the central areas of city, near Department Store. Here lit the first candle. In the performance rabbi Shmuel Karnaukh has told, that light of Hanukkah is especial light. It never is at war with darkness, the darkness itself is simple recedes from everywhere, where the beam of light will penetrate. To all participants of a holiday were distributed doughnuts and “Hanukkah geld”.
The holiday proceeded in synagogue. The lottery was held, and everyone, who has received a prize, made congratulation. All spoke that Hanukkah candle burn in honour of a victory, small light above abyss of darkness, in honour of a victory of the simple, modest people, what were Matitiagu Hasmoney and his one-peasants. As, that light Hanukkah burns in honour of the Jews, which were lost during days of Disaster, in honour of those noble just of the world, which tried to rescue or to facilitate fate doomed, in honour fallen warriors of Israel in honour of Day of independence. And that not went out in centuries light of Torah, as not went out 2 thousand years ago light of Temple fixture, May not dim light, may the candle burns!
