 On threshold of Hanukkah, as well as in previous years, the sponsors Hesed "Miriam" and JCC "Shamash" presented Jewish children of city sweet gifts.
On December 25 in a concert hall "Shalkyma" Jews of Karaganda met Hanukkah. "Ah-Odessa" so the organizers - Hesed "Miriam" and Community Center "Rimon" the concert program dated for a Holiday of Light named. And still "Àh, Odessa" is two-hour musical walk in historical places of city, with memoirs of the known Odessan -Jews, Jewish jokes and jokes, songs in performance of favourite in community ensemble, "Ot Azoy".
Odessa, is city, which has the history, history inseparably connect ed with Jewish Diaspora. How many famous Jews were born in Odessa. Even specific Odessa patois is certainly Jewish patois, Jewish intonations, and Jewish humour. And songs? In each of them the Jewish tears and laughter sound of the Jewish destiny, in each of them. And music? Practically in all pieces of music the national Jewish motives are audible. In this city and about today the Jewish colour and originality is kept.
 How much perfect music, songs, jokes has sounded this first evening of Hanukkah? And then there were congratulations from rabbi of Karaganda and Karaganda area Meir Sheiner, which has lit large Hanukkia. The visitors of evening have congratulated the director of Hesed "Miriam" Bella Kamenetzkaya and director of JCC "Shamash" Irina Kozhanovskaya. At an exit each of present on a holiday has received from Rabbi Meir Sheiner tasty magnificent doughnuts and Hanukkah sets, in which were Hanukkias and candles.
