It was four years ago. Tamara Gvozdetzkaya has approached to me - up to retiring on pension she headed a city service of Ambulance - and she told: "Valya, I was invited to work in Hesed, could not you conduct lecture at us". I had no concept what was Hesed but I decided not to ask again, and agreed to read lecture. Day prior to lecture I had a call from Hesed; they politely have greeted and asked when to send a car for me.
I have arrived one hour prior to the beginning. The lovely and attentive people have met me, offered coffee. Then I was guided along Hesed, told about organization, about principles and importance of its work. I was deeply touched with that does not numerous collective of this remarkable organization. Probably therefore lecture, which I have planned for 40 minutes, was tightened for one hour and forty minutes. The elderly people, and youth, approaching during lecture, (then explained to me, that the young people should something rehearse), remained at lecture, asked me questions, and I tried whenever possible to answer them.

On completion of lecture the director of Hesed "Nathan" Anatoly Itkin invited me to library. We had tea, Anatoly has told about volunteer's movement, its importance, and then asked, whether I can be volunteer of Hesed. And, it is four years already, as I am connected to the Jewish community of Kokshetau. Many people I already know on names. It basically those who comes to us on reception, and others on lectures, which I conduct in Hesed. The truth, lectures I conduct now not so often. First, at Hesed today there are enough volunteers of my trade, only from our City polyclinic four doctors.
I would like through a site www.mitsva.kz to thank Hesed for that it presented me the second family - Jewish community. Now I precisely know, not only we - volunteers - are necessary for Hesed, but also we need Hesed.
