 For me life of my grandfather - wonderful man, agronomist, wonderful organizer, Gedaliy Abramovitch Firenstein always serves as an example.
He dreamed to be the farmer, wanted to grow bread. And he became in far thirtieth years of the last century the student of Leningrad Agricultural institute. After the successful graduation he worked as a chief agriculturist in Vinnitsk region. But the peace work of our people was broken: the Great Domestic war began, and in July 1941 he was called up on front. He by roads of war and returned only in October, 1945. He worked on a responsible post in the Ministry of agriculture of Ukraine. In Kiev met his love, constant spouse, my grandmother Raisa Jornitskaya, just finished branch of the West-European languages of philological faculty of Kiev State University. Kiev was restored after military ruin, the life was adjusted. The young spouses lived in city centre, near opera theatre, in an apartment with all facilities, all boons of a civilizatio were accessible to them. Whether my young grandmother, adoring the book, theatres could think, that she will get in other conditions?
 The 1954 sharply has changed their life. Plenum of Central Committee of the CPSU has called youth on development of virgin lands in Kazakhstan and other east regions of the country. Communist Firenstein among first responded to an appeal. Certainly, many did not understand him: to change perfect Kiev on unknown wilderness? He answered: "I am agriculturist, communist, my place is not in a study of city office, but there where will grow bread ". So he has appeared in Uzunkolsk district of Kostanay region, where the construction of new state farm named in honor of workers in the virgin lands from Ukraine - began "Kiev". Gedaliy worked as chief agriculturist, and then became the director. He headed state farm up to the retirement on pension.
My grandmother Raisa has arrived to state farm in the summer of 1955, having waited when will be finished academic year at the son Boris (they all life are beside, my grandmother and my daddy, live now in one entrance). The grandmother frequently tells about life in "Kiev", where she taught at school. The impression at the beginning was depressing: citizen appeared in prefabricated house without convenience, but on four apartments. Water carried from apart, heated furnaces by a cane. Winters were severe - not Ukraine. As will blow snow storm it was nothing seen in two steps. Many from arrived could not stand, came back in city. And the Firensteins stayed on this ground forever.
"Kiev" soon has become famous on all area. Due to huge organizing talent of Gedaliy. And due to attentive and sensitive relation to the people. In a diversified agriculture was present about 60 thousand hectare of farmland, on 24 thousand hectares sowed wheat. Cultivated also barley, oats, millet and buckwheat, corn, vegetables. The state farm has achieved the large successes in cattle breeding. The central manor with direct streets surrounded by fruit and decorative trees was constructed. Have appeared Palace of culture, school with a boarding school, where lived children from branches of state farm, children's garden. In houses of the inhabitants the gas cookers, TV sets, telephones have appeared. Built not only at the centre, but also in all five branches. Certainly, the grandfather felt happy: he was on his place, he was necessary to thousand people.
In state farm the excellent experts grew, the director was proud, that former komsomol organizer K. Volovetsky became subsequently director of state farm "Volgograd" of Jetigaransk district, mechanics P. Koshlakê- the deputy director of Borovsk trust of state farms. The manager of branch named after Abay Kasymzhan Orazbayev became the candidate of agricultural sciences, deputy director on a science of Kostanay research institute of agriculture. He with the large heat recollects my grandfather: " I have not yet been thirty years old, when the director G. Firenstein offered a post of the manager. Promised to help. Patronized all young experts. Without a hail, patiently helped to eliminate lacks. Frequently was on branch, gave valuable advice. Blessed, when I entered post-graduate course spoke: "From you will be the sense ". I consider him as my teacher ".
Firenstein could adopt everything new, advanced. So one of the first in "Kiev" he introduced conservation cropping system, which was applied in Canada - sowing on the country. It has given an increase of a crop. The motherland highly estimated work of the director of state farm, having awarded him with awards "Mark of honor ", October revolution many medals, and in 1970 to him the rank "Honored agriculturist of Kazakhstan" was given.
… The years were passing. In 1972-ì the time of an exit for the deserved rest has come. He could not sit without business, he worked the personnel manager of trust "Kostanayselhozstroymontage", continuing to prepare the staff with many outstanding figures of the state. In "Kiev" were A. Kunayev, B. Ashimov, S.Niyazbekov, M. Solomentzev, N. Rodionov, and the Minister of agriculture of USSR V. Matzkevitch. Vladimir Matzkevitch saw off in the autumn of 1954 among other workers of the ministry of agriculture of Ukraine Gedaliy Firenstein. It was pleasant to him, that the agriculturist has got accustomed on a virgin soil, became the director of a large-scale enterprise.
 In state farm were journalists from Poland, farmers from Canada. The people admired blossoming sainfoin, sown lengthways roads leading to the central manor. The records of the grandfather about all outstanding events of those years, album with photos of the people, dear to us are carefully stored in family. The grandfather was the initiator of many kind businesses. In state farm have put in pawn one of first in the field of fruit gardens, manually. Having written off with the selectors from Baltic, Firenstein written out bulbs of gladiolus, tubers of dahlias. The beauty was necessary to the people.
….My grandfather, Gedaliy, is not among us now. But he remained in memory not only in the family, and many people working together with him remember him. I can tell about the grandmother. Raisa is known and respected in a community. She is rather intelligent man, highly erudite. Remember her lectures and conversations about the Jewish traditions, the grandmother was the indispensable participant of all holidays. And she knows very much and not only from the books. She was at the relatives in America, communicated with the Jews, keeping traditions. In Moscow she was accepted by main rabbi of Russia Berl Lazar. The grandmother was generously shared the knowledge with the members of a community. It is very a pity, that because of illness she now does not leave house. But many call to her, ask of advice, congratulate on birthday. And indispensably with one more important for her holiday - Teacher's Day. She was the real teacher, wise, kind. For a long time former schoolboys of the Kiev high school already have got the grandsons, but do not forget her, on Teacher's Day the telephone of my grandmother is constantly busy.
