FESTIVAL OF THE BOOK

Pavlodar 22.08.2006

In Pavlodar Community Festival of Jewish Book started. The purpose of a festival – is strengthening of traditions and Jewish self-consciousness, propaganda of the Jewish culture, rallying of community and development of creative abilities of its members. The gathered spoke about meaning of the book, about its role for the man. That today youth less reads books.

In Pavlodar in library there is a copy of samizdat book "Culture" of 1976 of issue. On title page of this book is written: "Book should lie, please, don't leave the book at you, remember, tens of the Jews want to read it". And it is so good, that today we have library in each Hesed that everyone wishing can reach and choose and read the book. On the today's moment the Pavlodar library counts more than 1600 copies of the books. These are the books on Judaic, tradition, art and children's literature. There is even in library Sidur of 1893. This year in the program of a festival are included: meeting in house of Shafer - presentation of a disk Nami Gitin "Kaleidoscope", exhibition of the Jewish cards in an art museum, presentation of the book of S. Reznik "Together or separately?", evening of memory of Ph. Tarasulo and there are a lot of other meetings, presentations, exhibitions.

Usual words, which speak about benefit brought to each man and all mankind, in something are correct and at the same time do not exhausts love of the people to the book and do not characterize specialty of this love. It is unselfish, as any real love.

And the spent festivals once again help us to rapprochement of a community and help to keep and to transfer the following generations’ rich traditions of the Jewish people.
