I would like to tell about destiny of the man, which, thanks to the Most High, is alive and, being on pension, to everybody, who is near to him, helps with a word and business.

This is Lev Volchegursky, "blind doctor", so he was named in our city. In Aktyubinsk railway hospital 35 years from 48 of all working life he worked, being blind. Sight he has lost not at once, pitch night cloaked of his eye completely in twenty years.

When the war had begun, the Volchegursky's family lived in Rostov - on-Don. During work in a front strip, when dug trenches, by a splinter of the bomb, which has become torn near Lev was wounded in the left temple, and he at once became blind on the left eye. The fascists approached to city, the evacuation began, and their family was evacuated in Shymkent. In the Kazakhstan city the teenager of 14 years old began to help the adults to look after wounded in military hospital, where had treatment and he. In hospital he has seen horror and suffering of the young, not guilty in anything soldiers, and there he decided: "I shall become the doctor".

After the war Lev returned to native city, graduated from Rostov medical institute. At the young expert there was a choice: to go as the ship doctor in a caravan whaling flotilla or as a doctor in the Orenburg management of the railway. From Orenburg he was transferred in Aktyubinsk, where he became the main doctor of sanepidstation on the railway. In two months after his introduction into a post in city epidemic with fatal outcomes began. "It was difficult, but we have coped", - recollects Lev Volchegursky.

Later he became in railway hospital. That all branches of hospital worked in complete force, it was necessary to apply huge willpower. With duties of the doctor he coped, working at times over force, both such physical and spiritual self-feedback has caused loss of sight of the second eye. The duties of chief physician should be transferred. The first months of the blindness the doctor studied anew, adapting to in life. Due to the friends, which supported him in difficult minutes, he got a place of the doctor - physiotherapist in the same hospital.

To work in complete force, to not lag behind from seeing, Lev learnt Braille’s letter; to him have attached nurse, which became eyes of the doctor. He worked his tail off, was engaged in scientific activity in the field of medicine. In 1975 there was his first clause "geporin-electrophoresis" in complex treatment of the patients with coronary heart disease in conditions of polyclinic ", subsequently was published in a medical magazine. By the middle of 80th these staunch men wrote two scientific works: " Electrophoresis of iodic potassium and extract aloe at treatment of the patients with herpetic keratitis "," Scientific organization of work in 3-rd railway hospital of station of Aktyubinsk ".

Subsequently Lev began to manage physiotherapy room, and then physiotherapy branch. Only two figures: per one year physiotherapy room treated 15 thousand men, from them half has received the necessary medical help from our doctor.

I am amazed with his talent, his selflessness, dedication. He had to accouche in the vagon; the grateful mum has named the son in honour of the doctors Lev. It was necessary to rescue the small patients who have received strong burns during explosion of a petard. One of them threatened to kill the doctor for painful procedures, and they were really very painful for the child. The time has passed, the patient has grown, now he is adult and very grateful to the doctor for the help.

His former patients, meeting the doctor, stop, shake his hands and thank him for that he made for them. In 1996 Volchegursky has retired pension, he was 68 years old. It was necessary to part with favourite work, from which he, as speak many, coped better of others seeing.

The people continue to call him, to consult, ask of medical advice. The doctor continues to spend active public life. Now Lev Volchegursky enters into Board of the veterans of the Kazakh community of blind, is engaged in other kinds of activity.

I think, of him, about this surprising man, the people by all means should know, you see he is unique blind doctor in Kazakhstan, 35 years gave to the most difficult and noble art of treatment. And the grateful former patient has presented him a poem, of own composition. You must admit that it costs expensive.
