From year to year more and more popular becomes sports contest among the elderly people, which is conducted by Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan. Participants and organizers liked the activity so much, that the next year it was decided to conduct the sport contest of republican scale. You see the youth is active as itself, and for middle-aged people family pleasures and cares are enough, and for elderly any sports measure - is great holiday.

It is no wonder, that on sport contest the members of the cultural centres came in vigorous, sports mood, as though having become younger on ten years. The participants were glad to active kinds of sports - volleyball, athletics, tug-of-war. It was necessary to see, with what enthusiasm warmed up far not young runners, how cheerfully and at the same time desperately struggled for a victory! How the people manage to keep vivacity in such age? Peter Astakhov, one of the fathers of the Jewish community, gives the answer: each morning and evening at any weather they together with his spouse pass four kilometers.

During opening of sports contest the captains of teams were handed the book "Games of the peoples of Kazakhstan ", with photos from last sports contests. The pleasant introduction to competitions became two dancing issues prepared by Korean and Karachaev-Balkar national-cultural centers.

Some inconvenience for the participants and fans was that the competitions passed simultaneously in three areas of Almaty. Therefore the people gathered in sports complex "Dostyk", where passed the basic competitions, to our sincere regret, could not look a match on mini-football, and table tennis. In sports complex "Dostyk" struggled for a victory on the following kinds of sports: volleyball, athletics, arm-wrestling, tug-of-war, pulling up on a horizontal bar, chess, draughts, darts, billiards. It is necessary to give due, one of the most numerous was a team of Jewish Community centre, and wishing to take part in sports contest was more, than places in a team. Numerous and active was the group of support.

Impressive also was the list of victories. Jewish Community centre took the first place on athletics, arm-wrestling, volleyball and darts. In general offset the team of Jewish Community Center took honorable second place. With the honorable letters were awarded the eldest participants of sports contest. In Community Center they were eighty four years old Galina Levina (draughts, darts) eighty seven years old Semen Levenberg (billiards, chess).
