In New York the session of Government of the World Jewish Congress (WJC) was held. The Euroasian Jewish Congress (EAJC), being the largest continental branch of WJC, was represented by the international delegation led by the President of EAJC Alexandr Mashkevitch.

Besides delegation included: the vice-president of EAJC Mark Shabad (Russia), General Secretary of EAJC Michael Chlenov (Russia), Chairman of General Board of EAJC Joseph Zisels (Ukraine), members of General Board EAJC r. Zinovy Cogan (Russia), Alexandr Baron (Kazakhstan), Galina Levina (Belarus), Daniel Turk (Japan) and Sumaty Luvsandendev (Mongolia). The general Secretary of Board of rabbis of EAJC, Chief Rabbi of Moscow Pinchas Goldschmidt took part in work of Government of WJC in quality of the specially invited visitor.

At the participants of session the former President of WJC Edgar Bronfman, told about the reasons of the resignation acted. The report of the Chairman of Executive Committee of WJC Mendel Kaplan also was heard.

Then the elections of the new President of WJC were held which became the ex-chief of a Conference of the Presidents of Leading Jewish organizations of USA Ronald Lauder. The son E. Bronfman, Mathew Bronfman was elected as the Chairman of Government of WJC.

At session of Government of WJC as the honorable visitors there was a delegation of Israel led by the writer Einat Woolf and leaders of a number of authoritative Jewish organizations, among which: the Jewish National Fund, "Joint", Antidiffamational League and Jewish Theological Seminary.
