Rosh-ha-Shana of 5768 year the Jewish community of Karaganda celebrated in restaurant "Feruza". The participation in evening took about 120 men. A holiday have prepared and conducted the workers of Jewish Community Center "Shamash" and Hesed "Miriam". With congratulations to the visitors on behalf of Association "Mitsva" addressed the director of Hesed Bella Kamenetskaya, director of JCC Irina Kojanovskaya, chairman of Hesed Board professor Joseph Breydo, representative of Agency "Sokhnut" Alla Sevastyanenko. Conducted a holiday the coordinator of the club programs Irina Revenko. The coordinator of the program "Jewish tradition" Alexandr Abramovitch told about traditions of Rosh-ha-Shana, about the order of blowing Shofar and executed the blowing itself. A lot of remarkable Jewish songs sounded in performance of the girl from vocal group "Yaholom" "Rebe Elimelekh", "Jerusalem", other songs in Yiddish and Hebrew, the violin by Ludmila Propishan sounded. On a holiday reigned warm conditions home-style, as the overwhelming majority of the participants know each other well and gathered together not for the first time.

But real apotheosis of celebrating Rosh-ha-Shana became handing of the honorable letters and gifts to the members of a community taking active participation in community life. Irina Kojanovskaya handed the letters to the workers of Hesed - for diligent work and active participation in realization of III festival "FREILEHE KINDER", and also volunteers and long-term active workers participating practically in all measures of a community. They were Valentina Ivanidze, Tatiana Gun, Marina Chebanenko, Zaya Egorova, Isabella Kleyman, Dora Konovalova, Elizabeth Rophman, July Troyansky, Vera Konopelkina, Nadezhda Goltman, Irina Bogoyavlenskaya, Vladimir Rayko...

With applause the community congratulated Klara Bekjanova and favourite singer Emilia Kichikyan, which this day had birthday. And again Emilia pleased karagandians with inflammatory "Hava Nagila". And at the end of evening - the medal of the Euroasian Jewish Congress "For the outstanding contribution to strengthening of friendship of the peoples and development of the Jewish culture" was handed to the director of JCC "Shamash" Irina Kojanovskaya for the first time in a history of the community. So high estimation of activity of Irina, during three years heading taking place in Karaganda the International Jewish children's-youth festival "FREILEHE KINDER", certainly, is quite deserved. But these days of court this estimation would sound also as an estimation of all Jewish life of our city, as an estimation of our achievement in community building.

And three names more have sounded this evening: Sofa Kamenetzkaya, Anna Verkhola, Sema Shneygerberger. All three were absent on a holiday for the valid reason: they have not yet achieved a year since birth. Therefore congratulations for them and wishes of sweet New Year were accepted by the parents. Shana Tova Umetuka!
