A book titled "Evacuation to Kazakhstan: A History of Evacuation of Population from the Western Regions of Soviet Union during 1941-1942" was published in 2007. This book is intended to heighten interest in the subject and presents essays, witness reports, memoires and copies of archived documents.

The information contained in this book only represents a small fraction of historical documents and events which turned lives of many people of different ethnic backgrounds.

The Scientific Conference, which is being organised by the National Jewish Association of Kazakhstan "Mitsva" in conjunction with the Central Government Archive, Committee of Information and Archives of Ministry of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan is devoted to the tragic events that took place during the World War II.

We invite you to take part in the International Scientific Conference "Evacuation: the Resurrection of the Forgotten Past" which will take place during 30-31 October 2008 in Almaty.

If you wish to attend, please send your application containing the subject and the text of your submissions by 15 October, 2008. Please ensure that your text does not exceed 5-7 single-sided pages on paper and electronic media.
