CONGRATULATING THE WINNER

Kostanay 16.09.2008

In June, - July 2008 in Moscow passed competition of methodical working on informal Jewish education) (IJE). It was carried out by the International centre of IJE "Melamedia" at Institute of study of Judaism in CIS under the direction of Rabbi A. Steinsaltz. In competition took part and was its winner Vladimir Lyakhovetsky - a coordinator of the programs on study of traditions of the Jewish people from Kostanay Hesed.

 - The message on this competition I received from the chief of the republican program on study of traditions of the Jewish people Alexander Abramovitch from Karaganda, - tells Lyakhovetsky, - At the end of June I sent in Moscow the methodical development "The Laws of Shabbat and holidays". So I have got on competition. Working up of Vladimir Lyakhovetsky mentions many questions of traditions: features of the Jewish calendar, calculation of a beginning of holidays, Pesach, Sukkoth, Shavuot - "HAG" (holiday) on Commandments of Torah, historical basis of a holiday Pesach, and significant dates: Rosh-ha-Shana and Yom-Kippur, historical origin and traditions of celebrating and many others. Vladimir Lyakhovetsky was born in 1938 in Odessa. In 1962 graduated with honours from Kharkov road-transport institute. On assignment arrived to Kazakhstan, where lives and 46 years work in Kostanay.

And besides Lyakhovetsky writes verses. Eight his collections are issued, one of them - "Golden autumn of life" - contains about 200 poems. In 2008 was published a new book of the author "Life - is riddle ". His collections of verses are in libraries of Odessa, Kharkov, Jerusalem, Moscow, Almaty, Kostanay and Pavlodar. On verses of Vladimir Lyakhovetsky three songs were written, one of them in 1997 took the first place in Kostanay on a regional festival "My native edge". The songs written by him and devoted to Great Patriotic War, are performed by chorus of the veterans. On some of his poems senior pupils write the compositions.

We congratulate Vladimir Lyakhovetsky on successful participation in competition and we wish him long years of life, strong health and creative successes.
