December 11 in Moscow the annual solemn reception of the Euroasian Jewish Congress (EAJC) was held, on which the ceremony of rewarding of the Russian and Georgian variety singer Tamara Gverdtziteli, and also legend of the Soviet and Russian sports, President of the international movement Maccabee Marc Rakita passed. The president of EAJC Alexander Mashkevitch handed awards EAJC over the singer and veteran of sports for the huge contribution to business of preservation of the Jewish cultural heritage and development of modern community life.
The solemn reception of EAJC collected this year the representatives of leading Jewish Russian and international organizations, Russian and Moscow government, embassy of the state Israel, large business, Russian and international informagencies outstanding figures of the Russian culture. Among others on reception were present Chief Rabbi of Russia Adolf Shaevich, Chief Rabbi of Moscow Pinkhas Goldshmidt, Chairman of executive committee KEROOR Zinoviy Cohen and executive vice-president of this organization Leopold Kaymovsky, executive vice-president of RJC Alexander Shlimak and others. The Jewish community of Kazakhstan was represented by the member of general Board of EAJC Alexander Baron.
On evening just issued fifth release of the "Euroasian Jewish year-book ", telling about the Jewish life in the Euroasian region in 2007-2008 years was submitted.
During solemn reception known antiquarian of Moscow Alexander Hochinskiy carried out charitable auction. Presenter of the evenings was an artistic director of theatre "Shalom" Alexander Levenbuk.
The reception was held at once after end in Kazan of two significant measures of Jewry of Eurasia: sessions of General Board of the Eurasian Jewish Congress (EAJC) and III reports-elective conference of Federal Jewish National-cultural autonomy (FJNCA). Sensation became that the head of Federal Jewish National-cultural autonomy (FJNCA) for the first time for two decades elected the man representing regional Jewish communities - the leader of the Jewish national-cultural autonomy of Republic Tatarstan Michael Skoblionok.
