October 1 at 17-00 Jewish community of Shymkent gathered in restaurant "Dostyk". The hall was festively decorated with balloons and figures of children prepared specially for a holiday Rosh-ha-Shana. To each table the guys fastened jar with honey made of paper. Children had prepared celebratory cards, in which wrote a wish: "Let you the happy year will be written down, and the record is fastened by a seal immediately - on kind life!"

In New Year on the Jewish tradition blow shofar - mutton horn. And on our holiday the sounds of shofar sounded - appeal to repentance. These sounds call us to come off daily routine, to forget about habits and last mistakes and to begin new life in new year.

On a holiday gathered more than hundred people. The Chairman of the Jewish cultural centre Eduard Atran and director of Hesed Bella Atran congratulated community. They wished to everybody the peace, consent in the house and soul, kind health and good holiday.

With customs and traditions of a holiday everybody were acquainted by George Shamuelov. He told that this day it is customary to eat sweets, therefore on all tables stood honey and apples, pomegranates and dates.

Conducted the celebratory program Irina Chibisova. The holiday was opened with new inflammatory dance by younger group of the children's centre. For children were sewed new colorful costumes. The senior group of children acted also. They danced the Jewish dances, sang songs and read verses of the known Jewish authors. Also on holiday the compositions of the famous Jewish authors in performance of group "Quartet" under the direction of Alexander Korotky sounded.

The holiday turned out well. The visitors left pleased, in good mood.
