Result of laborious searches - book

Ust-Kamenogorsk 07.11.2007

" The Jews, I give you my book! ", such epigraph could be put in the head of a celebratory measure held in middle of October in the Regional House of friendship of Small assembly of the Nations of Eastern Kazakhstan (Ust-Kamenogorsk). Here passed presentation of the book of Nina Krutova "Jews on the land of Eastern Kazakhstan", the way to which was long - about seven years.

And everything began from the offer of the president of Association "Mitsva" - A.I.Baron to engage in the collection of a material concerning a history of Jewish ethnos in territory of Eastern Kazakhstan. The searches, laborious work in museums, libraries, archives of area begun. Material collected and from numerous meetings and conversations with oldest members of the Jewish community of area, which unselfishly shared with their memoirs, acquainted with home archives. In a result was born the book about one of the most ancient peoples - Jews which already for many years live side by side near to us.

Their life and destiny are indissolubly connected to a history of Eastern Kazakhstan that allows relating this book to local history literature. The most part of a material is written on the basis of archival sources, many of which are presented for the first time.

The history of occurrence of Jewish ethnos in edge, destiny of the concrete people kept Jewish relic in area, customs and tradition … All this and much another the reader will find on pages of the present edition. From the moment of an output of the book and presentation more than half a year has passed, but already have been found descendants of those Jews living today in Russia, Germany, USA, which made a nucleus of the Jewish community of edge in the beginning of OO century. It means, that to put full stop it is early. To be continued...
