On the 5th of May, in the Jewish Community Center, a literary salon devoted to works of Dina Rubina was held. Over 30 people gathered in Rimon conference room. Books written by Dina Rubina are loved by readers of all generations. Every new work of this author becomes popular with readers. The Jewish library eagerly expects new books. Our readers already had a chance to enjoy a thriller "Leonardo’s Handwriting" and ironical story "It Hurts Only When I Am Laughing.
The salon was opened by the Director of the Republic Jewish Library Galina Korobkina. She introduced the salon mediator Emilia Slivko. Emilia Slivko brought well known and newly published books, told the audience about Dina’s biography and her development as a writer, showed illustrations made for the new book by the writer’s husband artist Boris Karafelov.
Emotional speech given by Emilia Slivko gave away her admiration of Dina Rubina’s talent. She started her presentation with the writer’s childhood. Dina Rubina comes from a Jewish family, her father was an artist and her mother was a teacher. She had her first publications in Yunost Journal and won the recognition of the Union of Writers, and then there was literary slavery, a play "Magic Doyra", a stinging story "When Will It Be Snowing?" Having read Dina’s story in a journal in the 70s, Emilia thought: "How this girl, who is as young as my daughter, can feel so deeply?".
Emilia’s favorite book is "On the Sunny Side of the Street". She noticed that everybody, who had lived or just visited Tashkent, immediately gets in the well remembered atmosphere of this city, feels its unique identity, its colors and smells, goes with Dina though its sunlit streets.
After the literary salon, readers all at once went to the Jewish Library to borrow books of Dina Rubina.
