We have recently celebrated 85th anniversary since the birthday of M.D. Semashko. People who personally knew Moris Davidovich and people who liked his writing gathered in the literature salon of the Jewish library to commemorate this amazing person. After publishing a series of articles about Moris Davydovich, Association Mitsva received a letter from the writer’s daughter Rimma Shamis.
"Dear friends:
Thank you very much that you remember my father and conduct events to commemorate important dates related to him. If I were religious I would say that his soul is with you, in the place where he lived all his life and with those who shared his joys and pains.
Twice a year I go to the cemetery to the Sharon valley. Do you remember in the Song of Songs Solomon calls Sulamif a Sharon lily, a lily of valleys? It is in this valley where my father’s grave is located. This is an international cemetery, Jews and people from all over the world are buried here. This is a beautiful, well kept cemetery as all cemeteries in Israel, it is located between the cities of Nitania and Hadera, it is surrounded by fields and orange groves. Until now, I do not associate my father’s image with cemetery - he loved life and people so much… I wish you health and happiness.
Always yours Rimma Shamis."
