In Hesed Polina a lot of attention is paid to the programs dedicated to support a Jewish family, especially the younger generation. Socially disadvantaged children are helped to overcome stress, eliminate some education drawbacks, and develop natural aptitudes.
Art therapy is the name of the program designed for psychologically challenged children and for children with speech disabilities. The program is aimed to facilitate social adaptation of these children. An experienced psychologist, Irina Dorokhina, conducts classes at the Day Center.
On Sundays, preschool children take classes of drawing, artistic molding, and engage in development games. By doing creative activities and going through game situations children program their subconscious mind, build their behavior patterns. Drawing and artistic molding help developing highly needed motor skills. As Irina Dorokhina said: "Art therapy is one the mildest but at the same time most efficient methods used by psychologists".
Groups are divided by age as follows: two-year, three-year, and five-six-year children. The psychologist takes an individual approach when working with children. At the class, four children are present but each child receives an individual correction of his/her emotional state.
Kids love art therapy classes. Their parents are also very pleased. Parents are grateful to the Charity Center - Hesed Polina for the professional help rendered to their children.
