On June 30th, President of Israel visited Kazakhstan’s capital Astana during his three-day visit to Kazakhstan. In Astana he met with the President Nursultan Nazarbayev and representatives of Jewish community. This is the first in history visit of President of Israel to Kazakhstan.

  The president of Israel Shimon Peres met with the Jewish community of Astana in Synagogue Beit Rahel – Habad Lyubavich. To participate in the meeting with the President of sovereign Israel, representatives of Jewish communities of Pavlodar and Karagandy arrived in Astana.

  Chief Rabbi of Kazakhstan Eshaya Kogen, the President of Eurasian Jewish Congress Alexander Mashkevich, President of Israel and Nobel laureate Shimon Peres addressed the audience.

  In his speech, Shimon Peres gave a highly positive evaluation of the activities of Jewish communities of Kazakhstan. He told the audience about his meeting with President Nazarbayev and appreciated the policy of tolerance and state pursuit of interethnic and inter-confessional unity.

  Members of the Israeli Cabinet of Ministers, Israeli Ambassador to Kazakhstan Israel Mey-Amy, Kazakhstani Ambassador to Israel Vadim Zverkov were present at the meeting.
