WE COOKED MATSA ON OUR OWN!

09.04.2009 Astana

Pesach is an eight days holiday of spring and freedom. It is devoted to one of the major events of the Jewish history - gaining freedom after 400 years slavery, birth of the Jewish people as a nation.

In Hesed Astana almost all Community gathered at the Pesach table. The Program Coordinator Mikhail Lazarevich-Kreichman told about the Exodus of Jews from Egypt - an event which happened to our people long time ago and became a turning point in our history. Everybody ate kosher matsa from Israel and bitter greens, drank kosher wine to commemorate our ancestors who overcame slavery.

There is an important commandment of this holiday - "tell your son", commandment to recite Passover Agada word be word, year by year, generation by generation, from father to son. Boys from club Shatil did this very well. When they heard the first words they were able to pass the phrase to other children!

Girls eagerly and with pleasure cooked matsa under the guidance of the Nutrition Program Coordinator Natalya Golovina. Not every child and adult can be proud to have cooked matsa with their own hands.

Our young people joined Passover Seder; they engaged in discussion on ways and goals of Jewish people. The evening ended with traditional Pesach words "Next Year in Jerusalem!"

We celebrate the holiday of spring renewal, which is connected to our values of freedom and spiritual and moral perfection, strive for peace and mercy!
