On May 20th, in Hesed Taraz a literary salon devoted to Jerusalem Day was held. Information about this amazing city was illustrated by slide show of its landmarks. Poems of Haim Gury, Galina Dusenko, Mikhail Rosenshtein were recited. A story of one of the oldest cities of the world was accompanied by a beautiful song Golden Jerusalem.
From about the end of the XI century BC, Jerusalem was a capital of the United Kingdom of Israel, then up to the 70th year AC - the capital of Jewish Kingdom. Temple Mount is mentioned as a place where Abraham sacrificed his only son Isaac. And there King David put up an altar. Then in 960 BC King Solomon built the First Temple, which was destroyed in 560 BC by Babylonians, only a Western wall was preserved. Jesus, a Jew, came to this Temple to the David’s city to go on a pilgrimage for Pesach. The Prophet Muhammad at night was brought by winged horsey on the place of the destroyed temple and after he had talked with the Prophets he was translated into Heaven from the Moria Rock.
All three religions are historically connected with each other. The remains of the Western Wall, which surrounded the Temple yard, the Holy Sepulcher Church and Omar Mosque are located in the old city very close to each other. Jerusalem is unique for many reasons because it is a sacred city for Jews, Christians, and Muslims. There is enormous number of historical monuments and it is a lively modern capital of the Jewish state.
The sacred city is in the heart of each Jew. For almost 2000 years people all over the world say to each other with hope this Pesach saying: "Next year in Jerusalem."
