MORE THAN SYNAGOGUE

13.01.2009 Ust-Kamenogorsk

On a coast of Ulba, in a place with the beautiful name Poplar Grove, is completed construction of the first in Ust-Kamenogorsk synagogue. It is necessary to remove fine subquality work, and the new temple will open.

This synagogue will be more, than just the assembly. It will be not only centre of religious life of the Jewish community, but also cultural centre. Except for divine worships will pass here holidays, exhibitions, and performances. The complex of structures includes a multifunctional hall, lobby, mikva (font), banquet hall, yeshiva (educational class), study of rabbi, hall of expectation, and hall for assemblies. The project and design is of the Belgian architects. The customer - is private fund "Ohel Eliezer".

It seems, absolutely recently (in September, 2006) the celebrations passed in connection with the beginning of construction. Then in Ust-Kamenogorsk delivered the main relic of the future temple - scroll of Torah. And already solemn opening of a temple approaches. Foremen Andrew Ababkov informs that the monolithic concrete building is constructed with observance of all rules of seismic strength. Object is not serial to build was interestingly. As beside the river flows, ground is mobile, it was necessary to drive in six-meter piles - totally 258 pieces! The area of internal premises - is 2 364 sq.m. Height of a dome - 12,5 m.

The wall, at which will stand Aron Kodesh (case with scroll of Torah), is always directed to the side of Jerusalem. From Israel the special facing for this wall will be brought. And one more important detail. Concrete having filled capacity for mikva (font) is made for once, without stops, at the presence of rabbi. The religious canon is those. - At us, - exclaims a foreman, - all has turned out from first time! It was not necessary to alter.
