UNDER COVERLET OF PRAYER

Invaluable for the believing Jews ceremonial subject - talit (Hebrew. "coverlet") appeared in an exposition of the East Kazakhstan museum - reserve transferred the inhabitant of Semey Larissa Krujkova. This family relic belonged to her father Trug David (1901-1937/38). Prayerful coverlet is dated roughly 1913-1917y. and was made in Poland.

 - Talit, - the senior scientific employee of a museum Nina Krutova explains, - is an obligatory accessory of clothes of the religious Jew. With this rectangular prayerful coverlet from silks with light-blue lines and brushes on corners, which Jude covers shoulders during a pray. The minimal size of Talit - is the size, sufficient to cover of the child who has already learned to go. Talit frequently use in quality of hupa - wedding canopy in it also turn a body of the late.

For today "Jewish collection" of the museum counts more than 70 units of storage. Presented to a museum Talit will take in it a worthy place. About ten years Nina Krutova studies a history of stay of Jews on ground of East Kazakhstan. The collected material is issued by the separate book. Officially "Jewish presence" in East Kazakhstan "is counted" since 1825, and directly in Ust-Kamenogorsk the first Jews are registered in 1861. By the end of XIX century in edge the community numbering more than 200 Judes was generated. It is known, that first public rabbi of Semipalatinsk was the honorable citizen of city Kiva Rabinovitch.

- He was the pharmacist, as, however, and many other Jews, which lived here. In Semipalatinsk Kiva Rabinovitch had arrived in 1901 from Chita and opened an own drugstore. After October events of 1917 the house and drugstore were nationalized. In 1925 the family of rabbi Rabinovitch leaves Semipalatinsk and moves in Kuibyshev. Now in Samara - adds Nina Krutova, - his grandson - G.R.Berkh lives, and in Germany the grand daughter - I.R.Rodina, which share with the invaluable memoirs and fill up money-box of our knowledge of a history of the Jewish community of East Kazakhstan. Today in Semipalatinsk even the woman was found which keeps a cigarette case, presented by Kiva Rabinovitch to her grandfather.
