Almaty 11.05.10

On May 11, the Jewish Community Center Rimon a literary salon devoted to Writer Amos Oz was held. Our library Volunteer, Lyubov Koretskaya, told about the writer’s life and work.

Oz’s books: "Know the Woman", "Suhi", "My Michael", "Black Box", "Wind Ways" "Rhythms of Life and Death" are always very popular with our readers. But the book we were discussing was a new one - "Novel about Love and Darkness". It was just recently presented to our library by Israelis.

Lyubov Yakovlevna told about the author, showed pictures of the writer and his family. Amos Oz (Klauzner) was born on May 4, 1939 in Israel. He was working in kibutsa from 15 years old and returned there after serving in the army. He studied philosophy and literature in the Jewish University. From 1986 he lives in Arad, teaches at Nege University in Beer-Sheva.

Amos Oz is a typical Jewish writer. The difficult history of Israel is a source of his creativity. People’s nature and nature of the country are the main topics of his works.

Community members - intellectuals shared their opinions, personal points of views on Oz’s works.
