NEW NOVEL BY DINA RUBINA

Almaty 19.01.2010

On January 19, over 25 lovers of Dina Rubina books gathered in the "literary saloon" at the Community Center Rimon.

Director of the Jewish Library, Galina Korobkina, opened the meeting, "This is our first literary saloon this year and we start it with our beloved Dina Rubina’s book. You know that we are implementing the project "Talking Book" to create a collection of literature works on CDs recorded by best performers. A large part of our collection is presented by Dina Ilyinichna’s books. These are all books recorded by the author herself. Who could better convey these deep novels, short stories and light minded essays? Unfortunately, there is no "White Pigeon of Cordova" novel in our audio collection yet. But there are other wonderful books available. Please come, borrow and listen to them."

The literary saloon was prepared by Volunteer Lyubov Koretskaya. She presented this new novel, "White Pigeon of Cordova", which is the seventh novel of this author, to the readers, "We have been waiting anxiously for this novel to be published, ever since we had a teleconference with the author in May. Do you remember how she was excited to create this novel. Finally we received some copies of it in our library." Lyubov Yakovlevna told the audience about the plot, noted that the author is a fine art connoisseur, which is evident in the novel. She spoke about the Jewish aspect of the book and read out some most showing pages, noted the amazing choice of words, which enables the reader to "see" the wonderful paintings as if personally participating in the described events.

It is a new novel in the Jewish library but there were several people in the literary saloon who have read the book already. Svetlana Nezhinskaya and Natalya Dmitriyeva shared their impressions. Everybody has his/her own opinion and the book is multi-faced, but there a shared conclusion that this book is a new level of Dina Rubina’s work. Natalya Dmitriyeva recited some excerpts by heart. She explained that the novel’s plot and language gets deep into the subconscious mind.

Our literary saloons are greatly popular with readers and listeners. New books, beautiful Russian language, and interesting discussions attract many intellectuals.
