SECOND ROUND

Astana 17.10.10

It was noisy and busy in Astana Hesed before the second round of the Quiz on Tradition "From Time Immemorial ..." The senior and the middle group gathered and waited for the announcement of the results of the first round.

Director of Hesed Elena Levina announced the scores earned by participants in the first round, and gave all the sweet prizes from the sponsors of the city. Chairman of the Mitzvah Association Alexander Baron, the honorary guest at the competition, congratulated the participants and wished them to represent the capital in the third round, which will be held in the city of Almaty.

He opened the envelope with the questions and the work began. There were interesting questions, and some questions for for the elder group were even difficult and challenging but the boys have coped. The youngest group of competitors could not sit at home and came to Hesed before the appointed time. While the boys were waiting for the senior and middle groups to finish answering the questions they also were engaged in useful activities: played Jewish bingo, repeated the alphabet, spent time in the library. And finally it was time for the younger group to listen to the results! The very noisy and hyper-active group quieted down in anticipation of the results of the first round!

All were satisfied with their scores. Then the envelope with questions was opened and the work began. The parents who came to support their children tried to cheer them up and helped in any way they could.

Unfortunately, some guys who had been selected for the second round, were not able to come to Hesed as they were sick. We wish them good health and not to despair, and hope that they will have an opportunity to participate in the quiz next year. The second round continues! Good luck to all!
